Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Conducting Investigation into Tuesday Afternoon Shooting Incident



(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred this afternoon near Seneca.


The investigation, so far, has resulted in one subject being arrested and two other subjects involved being identified. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking to identify a fourth subject in regards to the incident. At this time, there is no danger to the public, according to Sheriff’s Office investigators.


The E-911 Communications Center dispatched deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division this afternoon around 1:56pm in regards to reports of shots being fired on Timber Ridge Lane near Shiloh Road in the Seneca area. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a subject was at Oconee Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound.


Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division were notified and responded to the hospital. As more facts became available, it was determined that a group of individuals burglarized a home while armed. While on the property, the homeowner discharged a firearm, striking one of the subjects.


After being released from the hospital, one subject was arrested and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center. The subjects name will not be released until arrest warrants are obtained, which should be sometime tomorrow. Due to the ongoing investigation, no other names of any other suspects currently identified will be released at this time and investigators expect more arrest to follow.
